The Batuta is a wine produced from two old vineyards with different altitudes and aspects. After a rigorous selection process in the vineyard, the grapes are carefully sorted in our cellar before being fermented very gently and with a longer maceration period. All the details were carefully considered in order to produce a complex and elegant fine wine.

The Batuta Tinto from Niepoort is an expressive red wine made from Malvasía, Rufete, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa and other Portuguese red grape varieties. 

Tasting Notes

In the glass, this wine shines a bright ruby red with purple highlights. The intense bouquet is dominated by aromas of fresh wild berries - especially raspberry and currant - and spicy nuances of freshly ground pepper and cloves. On the palate, this Portuguese red wine convinces with complexity, power and a fascinatingly harmonious interplay between fruit concentration and acid structure. The texture is wonderfully silky and goes hand in hand with the fine-grained tannin. Even with its young years, this wine impresses with harmony and precision. The finish is very fine, seductive and convinces with a wonderful length. 

Enjoy this dry red wine from Portugal with all kinds of dishes with lamb - especially rack of lamb in herb coat on mashed potatoes - or roast venison or venison with hearty side dishes.
