Glenfarclas 20 Years Old Family Cask 1972 was distilled in 1972 and matured in a fourth-fill butt (cask #1972). This limited-release whisky, bottled in 2003, offers an intriguing profile. The nose reveals earthy notes reminiscent of damp soil and aged leather, complemented by hints of dried fruit. On the palate, it presents a robust character marked by dried fruits and refined spiciness. Limited to 564 bottles.

  • Color: Deep amber with a reddish sheen.
  • Nose: A bold, slightly quirky opening with notes of rubber boots/industrial notes and a bicycle tire repair kit, which gives way to dark chocolate, stewed fruits, and is under-layered with rich, dark fruits.
  • Taste/Palate: Full-bodied, starting with a surprising fizz and spice that settles into mellow fruit and spice notes. The 4th fill cask provides a solid, structured foundation, emphasizing the distillery’s, rather than the wood's, characteristics.
