Description

This Glenrothes 1998 is the perfect candidate for XOP selection - a delightful refill barrel that somehow achieved 21 years of age while still retaining a whopping 60.7% natural cask strength. This is very rare, but casks that do this generally show an amazing intensity of flavour, and of course with a refill barrel you get much more untrammelled distillery character coming through. This is a terrific whisky.

Tasting Notes

A gentle spiciness that develops to fresh vanilla, caramelised nuts and grist on the nose. On the palate, more Vanilla, running alongside hard candy, orange zest and creamy fudge. The long finish reveals citrus fruits, warming cinnamon and spiced oak (CSL).
