Description

This wine comes from a very complex vineyard with many different slopes and aspects. In addition some forty-one different varieties of vine have been identified. This results in a wine that is equally complex and expressive of the majesty of Douro Valley. 

Tasting Notes

A very elegant and a very fresh wine, with good colour, violet, dark red and purple, with a good concentration of mature dark red fruit aromas, black cherries and plums and gentle aromatic and fruity flavours. Great balance and acidity, intense and velvety, with finesse and elegance, so traditional of Quinta Vale D. Maria Douro Red. The ageing in 75% new and 25% one year old French oak casks concentrated the original mature tannins of the wine and has helped smoothen its power, originating in a very elegant wine with great balance and finesse and a very long and fruity finish.

Food Pairing

We love pairing this wine with game dishes, such as partridge and quail. A slow roasted veal, with oven baked potatoes and vegetables is also a favorite.
