Description

The name Querciabella means "Beautiful Oaks" as the vineyards in Ruffoli and Radda in Tuscany are surrounded by wonderful oak trees.  Querciabella’s commitment to creating extraordinary wines, without causing harm or disrupting the delicate balance of nature, will not waiver.

Opulent and nuanced, Camartina perfectly embodies Querciabella’s gift for finesse and elegance, one of Tuscany's most iconic "Super Tuscan" wines. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese this critically acclaimed Super Tuscan is only produced in optimal vintages, while small batch micro-vinification and an extremely limited bottling guarantee hand-crafted excellence. This silky smooth expression of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese embodies Querciabella’s quest for finesse, balance and sheer drinkability. The vineyards where the grapes for Camartina are grown have been organically farmed since 1988, and then fully converted to biodynamic techniques in 2000.

Tasting Notes

With remarkable intensity, Camartina 2018 is testimony to the harmonious vintage. Dark, succulent fruit stand out in a finely detailed bouquet where black cherries, plums, currant and myrtle merge with delicate floral notes and sensations of warm spices, herbs and mint.

The Cabernet Sauvignon, which reached perfect maturation in 2018, slowly reveals its savory quality and leads both the flavor profile and sumptuous structure. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and supple, with firm tannins and tangy acidity in perfect balance with the fruit concentration. Its complexity and persistence craft a satisfying textural finish.

Food Pairing

Querciabella original Super Tuscan demands a dish with substantial weight. There’s a variety of dishes you can play around with. We like Camartina with mushroom Coq au Vin, roasted and root vegetables over braised lamb.
