Description

The history of Mount Etna is studded with the historic volcanic eruptions which have shaped it's terroir. The eruption of 1614 is legendary, lasting ten years and is the longest ever recorded. A very evocative name for Planeta's Cru from Etna. At the time of planting the vineyards, in keeping with their spirit of research, Planeta planted a small vineyard of Riesling. This unusual grape for Sicily, this extraordinary variety loves altitude and lava soils. A unique wine, the first Riesling on Etna and in Sicily.

Tasting Notes

Light color with green reflections, still young on the nose with all the typical precursors of the ‘king’s variety’; white apple, plum, lemon and yellow flowers. On the palate it is perfectly dry, without excessive acidity. The palate is perhaps its strong point in this youthful phase with that ‘mineral’ taste which experts debate and describe with difficulty.

Food Pairing

Its vibrant and pronounced fruity acidity combines well with all the ‘pure’ tastes; baked mackerel or steamed sea bream, dishes of rice and green vegetables, raw vegetables. In Asian cuisine, pair with Vietnamese food.
