Planeta Eruzione 1614 Carricante 2019

The history of Mount Etna in Sicily is studded with the historic eruptions that have shaped it's terroir. The eruption of 1614, the namesake of this wine, is legendary, lasting ten years and the longest ever recorded. A name strongly evocative of Planeta's Cru wines from Etna. This Carricante, Etna's indigenous variety, has a small addition of Riesling giving this high altitude wine from black soils an even more elegant savory and mineral style.

Tasting Notes

The pale golden color does not anticipate the explosion of aromas of ripe fruit and white flowers that magically transport the taster to the slopes of Etna. On the palate the wine manages to combine softness and strength with a richness. The mouth is full of fruit flavors of lemon peel and green apple linked to an endearing mineral power which prolongs the finish.
