One of the best-known and most prestigious wineries in Ribera del Duero, Pago de Carraovejas is the dream of restaurateur José María Ruiz, who after opening the famous restaurant that bears his name in Segovia, bought his first nine hectares of vineyard at the end of the 80s.

Pago de Carraovejas 2020 is the most honest reflection of the valley to which it owes its name. A vineyard that scales the surroundings, creating a unique landscape. The plots are arranged between hill-sides and moorland, reaching an altitude of 900 meters. The austere soils of tertiary geology combine limestone loams, clays and sand-stones, providing the terroir with unique properties.An intense, powerful red, marked by its fruity notes and also by its tannins . It will delight its fans from day one, although it will also give great joy to the most patient, since it has a lot of life ahead of it.

Tasting Notes

Pago de Carraovejas 2020 is an intense and complex red wine that on the nose offers aromas reminiscent of ripe red and black fruits (blueberries, cherries, blackberries) accompanied by balsamic, spicy and floral nuances with a subtle smoky note. The palate is silky and enveloping. A red wine with soft tannins, round and well-structured, perfect to be enjoyed now and with a cellaring capacity that can exceed 10 years.

Food Pairings

Ideal with roast meat or Iberian pork tenderloin. Also with a cod taco in tempura with cane syrup.
