Description
At Ossian, the winemakers perpetuate a legacy that goes back five centuries. They work to maintain and recover hundred-year-old vineyards that were not decimated by phylloxera, in a land of privileged soils and an extreme climate that marks the character of the ancestral and authentic Verdejo.
Ossian 2020 is history in every bottle. They are the stories that vines of almost 200 years can tell and that have seen how, generation after generation, the ways of life, viticulture, the environment and even people changed. Ossian is a historical and primitive legacy. It is the patience necessary in a place where time is the greatest virtue and the best ally.
Tasting Notes
The eponymous 2020 Ossian was produced with Verdejo grapes from old, organically farmed vines around the village of Nieva (Segovia), a zone where phylloxera didn't reach. They consider 2020 their finest vintage to date, with a big change from 2018 and when they have achieved a much better understanding of their vineyards. It has notes of pit fruit and sweet spices, with good weight on the palate, moderate alcohol (13.5%) and ripeness and good freshness and balance. It's serious and with potential to develop in bottle.
