Description
Thanks to its 55 hectares of superb gravelly vineyards, Smith Haut Lafitte is often referred to as the "archetypical Graves." The estate's history goes back to the Crusades, and a Scottish navigator, George Smith, who became the owner of the estate in the 18th century. He was followed by M. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux, and then Louis Eschenauer, a famous wine shipper. Château Smith Haut-Lafitte, an estate that was literally reborn starting in 1990 when Florence and Daniel Cathiard became the owners. One of the best second wines of Cru Classés in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The highest assurance of quality for professionals and wine lovers - their second wine “Les Hauts de Smith” benefits from the best care both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
Tasting Notes
Fresh currant and cherry aromas with hints of flowers. Full-bodied, very tight, and firm with silky tannins and a beautiful, long finish. Lively and vivid. A range of striking floral/savory Cabernet Sauvignon aromatics adds complexity, while the Merlot is felt in the wine's fleshiness. Second wine of Château Smith Haut Lafitte.
