Description

This wine is produced by the 11th generation of winemakers of the Vauthier family, which has owned Château Ausone for over 300 years. For a bit of reference, the 2015 Ausone receive 100 Point Score and retails for over $1,000!
Le Petit Vauthieris located on an exceptional terroir and owes his typical character to the blending of two grape varieties traditionally grown in Saint-Emilion, the Merlot and the Cabernet Franc. It gives to this wine an exceptional balance and very soft tannins.

The wine composition is 80% Merlot and 20% Cab Franc, the vines (average age of 31 years) are located in the south of  the Saint Emilion village where the soils are clay based with sand and gravel. Fermentation and ageing in concrete vats and then another 12 months in barrels. The winery converted to full organic farming in 2020.

Le Petit Vauthier Saint Emilion Grand Cru AOC Rouge 2015 is a refined wine with a deep ruby color and garnet reflections. It offers complex aromas of black cherries, plums, cassis, cedar, and tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, featuring rich dark fruit flavors, chocolate, spices, and a touch of vanilla. The wine has balanced acidity, firm tannins, and a smooth, velvety texture, finishing long and elegantly with lingering dark fruit and oak notes. It pairs excellently with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, and mature cheeses.
