Description

The wines from the Azienda Agricola Crissante Alessandria are born in the noble land of Langhe from native grapes. With the passing of the centuries, Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto have found their ideal environment in these harmonious and sunny hills where they can fully develop their enormous quality potential and their wonderful typicalness. The passing of the seasons differs each year, the tranquillity of the underground cellars allows the aromas and flavors to evolve, giving each vintage a unique personality.

The Barolo del Comune di La Morra is made from grapes that come from three vineyards belonging to La Morra. The southeastern, clay-rich soils of the Contrada Roggeri account for more than half and form the backbone of this Barolo. About 40% is supplied from the vineyards of San Biagio and Betolotti respectively, where the soils are slightly richer in sand. They provide the beautiful, lifted aromas of the del Comune di La Morra.

The winemaking process, on the other hand, reflects the family tradition of Alessandria. The maceration lasts about 2 weeks. The wine then matures for 24 months in large Slovenian oak. The vinification in the bottle is at least 12 months.

Tasting Notes

Brillant and vivid garnet ruby. On the nose, complex and great freshness, with evident hints of cherry and ripe strawberry with a background of dried apricot. All accompanied by pleasing tarry notes in the finish. Full, of great elegance and refinement with silky tannins that make the palate pleasantly clean.

Food Pairing

This is a great meditation wine and as such it can be enjoyed alone in large goblets. It goes perfectly with meats, roasts, cheeses, and many other dishes.
