Copain Anderson Valley Tous Ensemble Chardonnay 2018

 The Sonoma Coast is one of the most stunning places on earth, and we are privileged that we get to farm grapes there. Within this large appellation, our preferred area is what is often referred to as the True Sonoma Coast, a more specific area that focuses on the ridges along the Pacific Coast from the Sonoma/Mendocino County border down to Bodega Bay. Our estate vineyards Sealift and Tidal Break are planted here and they each benefit from the soil, elevation, and proximity to the Pacific Ocean.
These characteristics define the terroir for growing world-class Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah. The rocky ridgetops have a layer of well-drained loamy soil mixed in with greywacke and volcanic soils, ideal for growing vines. Our vineyards sit at an elevation usually around 1200-1600 feet. At this elevation, often above the fog line, the vineyards soak up warm sunshine during the day. The proximity to the ocean gives guaranteed cooling from the Pacific breezes in the evenings.
