Col d'Orcia Nearco 2018

Col d’Orcia means the hill overlooking the Orcia River. The Orcia River marks the South West border of the Brunello di Montalcino territory in Tuscany . It is the mission of Col d’Orcia to produce the best possible wines that the exceptional combination of soil and climate of this part of Montalcino can achieve. Since 2010 the whole estate is run following exclusively organic agricultural practices.

The Mediterranean climate, the Montalcino “terroir”, the nobility of Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah, and the knowledge and the passion of the Col d'Orcia team all came together to create Nearco. On the gentle southern hillsides of Montalcino, embedded in the middle of Brunello vineyards, one can find the plots dedicated to the great international varieties that made the Tuscan reds so famous. Real “cru”, where Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah have found ideal growing conditions to express their celebrated class at its best. A new wine of great impact and structure, where the softness of the Merlot is married perfectly with the power of the Cabernet and the spicy fruit of the Syrah.

Tasting Notes

Ruby red color with brilliant violet hues. The nose is intense and harmonious with hints of ripe fruits as blackcurrant and blackberry that blend perfectly with the spicy notes and the vanilla flavoring from the oak. Soft and rich to the palate with ripe tannins, well balanced by a nice freshness. Good persistence that leads to a fruity finish.
