Description

The estate and its 14 hectares of vines are located in the village of Neive, in the heart of the Barbaresco appellation. Aldo Pola, with the help of his wife Luisella and his children, continues the work started in 1969 by his father Franco. Their goal is to present the territory of Neive in the bottle. The estate has been modernized over the years in order to achieve the right balance between tradition and technology necessary to best preserve the characteristics of the wine. As everywhere in Piedmont, here the Nebbiolo is the king of grape varieties. The microclimate and the sun add to the terroir and make this DOCG the real protagonist of a territory where the Barbera, Dolcetto, and Arneis grape varieties are also well regarded.

Tasting Notes

Serraboella is a much more powerful style than Bordini. Tarry and peppery with quite grippy tannins, it is intense with orange peel and clove on the palate. Serraboella is the most famous cru in the Southern Neive: a long hill exposed to the west, gently turning towards the south as it becomes steeper. From fifteen-year-old vines on clay-limestone soils. Vinified in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and then aged in a bottle for 12/15 months.
