Description

The estate and its 14 hectares of vines are located in the village of Neive, in the heart of the Barbaresco appellation. Aldo Pola, with the help of his wife Luisella and his children, continues the work started in 1969 by his father Franco. Their goal is to present the territory of Neive in the bottle. The estate has been modernized over the years in order to achieve the right balance between tradition and technology necessary to best preserve the characteristics of the wine. As everywhere in Piedmont, here the Nebbiolo is the king of grape varieties. The microclimate and the sun add to the terroir and make this DOCG the real protagonist of a territory where the Barbera, Dolcetto, and Arneis grape varieties are also well regarded.

Tasting Notes

This vintage stands out as a vintage of great distinction with very legible rose and pepper fragrances. The tapered grain of the tannins, almost sculpted on the palate, is still firm but delicious. It is an extremely-refined wine creating a palate with an amazing spherical character. In this region, the vine is lost in the hills and mountains to give birth to exciting wines. Nebbiolo is the only grape variety used for Barbaresco (like Barolo, by the way). Nebbiolo is a true blotter of the terroir, it draws its great aromatic diversity from the appellation's silty, sandy, and clayey soils. This cuvée is a model to be discovered and kept in the cellar for wine lovers.
