Description
The estate and its 14 hectares of vines are located in the village of Neive, in the heart of the Barbaresco appellation. Aldo Pola, with the help of his wife Luisella and his children, continues the work started in 1969 by his father Franco. Their goal is to present the territory of Neive in the bottle. The estate has been modernized over the years in order to achieve the right balance between tradition and technology necessary to best preserve the characteristics of the wine. As everywhere in Piedmont, here the Nebbiolo is the king of grape varieties. The microclimate and the sun add to the terroir and make this DOCG the real protagonist of a territory where the Barbera, Dolcetto, and Arneis grape varieties are also well regarded.
Tasting Notes
Here Nebbiolo thrives on the south-facing clay-limestone soils of Neive. The wine is matured in stainless steel vats, oak barrels, and ancient tanks for more than two years so as not to leave too much of a mark on the wines. The juicy, ripe cherry is underlined by a superb minerality in a bouquet with delicate nuances of rose petals, saffron, and spices. The palate asserts its character through the power of its tannins while being ripe and sophisticated. We find a round and sensual core on the palate for a deep and complex finish that lingers. This is a vintage that will seduce wine lovers from all over the world!
