This fifteen-year-old single malt whisky, from The Balvenie, has been finished in wine casks from Madeira. The distillery’s malt master, David C. Stewart, has favored casks from the region in previous expressions, and they’re used to wonderful effect here. 

Nose. Overflowing flavours of blackcurrants and brambles slowly layer upon gingery syrup and delicate spice. Taste. Ripe fruitness from fresh peaches leads to a citrus orange zing, hazelnuts, and crisp oakiness coating the pallet. Finish. Long-lasting.
