Montecastro 2021 Ribera del Duero

Montecastro 2021 was born from a harvest of magnificent quality and from the amalgam of terroirs (clay, limestone, pebbly, loamy) that Bodegas Montecastro works in its 27 hectares of vineyard, located in Castrillo de Duero (Valladolid).

This variety and richness of the soils in which the tinto fino (tempranillo) and merlot vines that makeup Montecastro grow, granted it great complexity, to which the freshness and good acidity derived from the altitude of between 860 and 923 meters above sea level at which the vineyard is located, one of the highest in the Ribera del Duero, was added.

The production process of Bodegas Montecastro enhanced all the varietal qualities, with slow fermentation using indigenous yeasts, maceration in thermoregulated concrete tanks, and 16 months of aging in French oak barrels from Allier. Its balance, generous structure, and finesse predict a good aging and great storage potential for Montecastro 2021. Enjoy it especially with red meat dishes and good cured cheeses.

In sight, the red wine Montecastro displays a very bright ruby red color.

Very aromatic nose where black berries and red fruits predominate, complemented with balsamic notes (eucalyptus). A perfect integration of the spicy aromas provided by the aging in wood harmonizes the whole. 

On the palate, it is smooth and silky. With a balanced structure and well-integrated acidity, this wine stands out for its finesse, freshness, and marked persistence, characteristics that promise excellent aging potential.
