The vineyard of origin of Solea is Pira: a historical mention of the village of Castiglione Falletto. Pira is exposed to the South East, on the slope of Serralunga and Perno, born from the disintegration of the Rocche. It has been a monopoly geographical mention of the Roagna family since 1989, the year in which it was purchased, and it is the largest-owned vineyard. In the lower part, there is a chardonnay plant dating back to the mid-eighties, which is used for the production of this Langhe DOC "Solea" 2015, in combination with a part of Nebbiolo. The harvest takes place in September and the collection is manual, in small boxes. Fermentation takes place exclusively in wooden vats thanks to indigenous yeasts and lasts for about ten days. The wine then matures in a neutral oak barrel for about 2 years.

A blend of Chardonnay from the Pira vineyard in Castiglione, with 25% blanc de noirs from Nebbiolo to bring freshness. The result is a pure, textured white: undoubtedly one of Piedmont's very best.

Tasting Notes

Intense straw yellow in the glass. On the nose, the notes of white peach and gooseberry are followed by hints of aromatic herbs, light mineral hints, and white pepper. A nice sapidity combined with a pleasant and citrusy freshness. Excellent persistence. And age-worthy.

Food Pairing

To be combined with seafood, it is perfect with shellfish-based courses.
