Description

The Roagna family has been making Barbaresco since the late 19th century. After taking over from Alfredo after the 2001 vintage, Luca Roagna has kept true to the traditional wine-making of previous generations whilst fine-tuning it to turn out pure, unique Piedmontese wines that are sought-after the world over.

The grapes of this exceptional Barbera come from the single vineyard Pira from Castiglione Falletto - this is where the best Barbaresco and Barolo of the region usually come from.

Tasting Notes

Roagna's Barbera d'Alba is a deep, serious wine with an exuberant bouquet of ripe red fruits, flowers, spices and crushed boulders. The palate is clear and precise with red currants, cherries, underpinned by a Barbera-typical acidity and medium-weight tannins. In its overall composition, it is one of the most fascinating, elegant and at the same time classic representatives of its kind.

Food Pairing

Barbara is an excellent food wine especially with white and red meat dishes, braised dishes, risotto, and medium-aged cheeses.
